What Are the Different Roles of System Users in TR7 ASP?

TR7 allows SSH access for users with different levels of authority. Each defined user can have a password set, and each user can only perform tasks within their designated permissions.

  • Setup > SSH
  • Network > SSH
  • Admin > SSH
  • Log > FTP
  • Config Backup > FTP
  • IP Intelligence > FTP
  • Update > FTP

Interface

Access Tab

"Settings > Device Management > Access" steps are followed. On the screen that opens, click the Edit button. Through the System Users tab, the access permissions of the desired user types are managed. By default, access for all SSH and FTP users is disabled.

The capabilities of the relevant user types can be reviewed by hovering the mouse over the i button on the side.

  • setup; This user type is responsible for initial setup of the device and configuring network interfaces.

  • network; This user type can use various system tools (such as arp, ping, tcpdump, curl, etc.) over the device’s network.

  • admin; This user type is responsible for core administrative tasks (such as updating, backing up, managing services, etc.) on the device.

  • log; This is an FTP user who has read-only access to files and folders containing vService and user logs.

  • config_backup; This FTP user has read-only access to configuration backup files of the device.

  • ip_intelligence; This FTP user has read-only access to the IP intelligence database file (iprep_blacklist.txt) and can modify device-based IP lists.

  • update; This FTP user has read/write access to the files where device update packages are stored.
