What is the IP Disable Feature? In Which Situations is it Used?
About
What is IP Disable?
This feature is used when adding an IP to TR7 or making an already existing IP inaccessible. Any IP can be disabled, rendering it completely unreachable, including being non-pingable. This is particularly useful during testing or when transferring services through a different load balancer. Initially, all IPs are added as disabled. Once the service is removed from the other load balancer, the previously added disabled IP is activated on TR7, completing the service transfer process.
As a result, when a disabled IP is added, it is treated as if it does not exist on TR7.
Interface
Disabling IP
Step > 1
Warning
When performing a migration from a different load balancer, in addition to adding the IP as disabled, the corresponding vService should also be added in a disabled state to prevent the service from running. When traffic is to be switched to TR7, both the vService and the IP can be enabled, allowing for an instantaneous transition.
Follow the steps "Network > Interfaces".
Step > 2
Right-click on the desired IP. In the opened window, click the "Edit IP" button.
Step > 3
Select "Disabled" as the "IP Status".
Warning
In a cluster environment, it must be selected as "Disabled" for both devices.
Warning
The newly added IP should also be set as "Disabled" during the addition process by selecting "Ip Status" as "Disabled" in the same way.
Disabling vService
Step > 1
"vServices > Relevant vService" is selected, and the edit screen opens.
Step > 2
At the top, "Status" should be selected as "Disabled". Then, by clicking the "Save" button, the vService will be set to a disabled state.
Warning
To disable a newly added vService during the addition process, the "Status" section should be selected as "Disabled". Then, by clicking the "Save" button, the vService will be created in a disabled state.
