Geo Traffic Manager (GTM) > Settings

Through the Geo Traffic Manager (GTM) > Settings tab, you can access the DNS Services, Datacenters, Health Checks, Trigger Actions, Health Scenarios, Express Profiles, and DNS Forwarder Profiles tabs.

DNS Services

TR7 ASP devices can also serve as DNS servers. With their built-in DNS service, they can handle a high volume of DNS queries and play a major role in ensuring redundancy and business continuity.

Datacenters

Enables monitoring of TR7 devices located in multiple data centers based on internet status, WAN access, LAN access, CPU, Memory, and/or Bandwidth (BW) information. With the Datacenters feature, these parameters can be monitored to ensure redundancy and business continuity on a per-data-center basis.

Health Checks

Health checks are used by TR7 GTM to verify the health status of DNS records. TR7 GTM performs health checks on DNS records using methods such as HTTP, Scenario, Datacenter, TCP, Ping, Oracle, and more. Based on the results of the health checks, you can control which response is returned for a DNS query and from which data center it is served.

Trigger Actions

Trigger actions are mechanisms that execute predefined tasks when health checks for DNS records fail. When the health check(s) defined in the health scenarios fail, the corresponding action is triggered automatically.

Health Scenarios

Health scenarios can be used by TR7 GTM to determine which address to return or which data center to serve from based on predefined conditions (scenarios). By using configured health checks, TR7 GTM can define appropriate health scenarios. In the event a scenario is triggered, it can identify a disaster situation and ensure redundancy and business continuity for your services and data centers.

Express Profiles

In Express mode, TR7 GTM synchronizes records from a master-designated DNS server. All management (editing, adding, or deleting DNS records) is performed on the master DNS server. TR7 GTM reflects these changes in real time.

DNS Forwarder Profiles

A DNS Forwarder forwards DNS queries from clients to another DNS server. DNS Forwarding is commonly used when local DNS servers lack external access or when the requested record is not found locally. This configuration helps manage DNS queries centrally and optimizes traffic.

TR7 ASP® provides an easy-to-use DNS forwarding feature without requiring scripting languages. The main goal of DNS Forwarder configuration is to manage traffic and use network resources efficiently. Clients may query local DNS servers, but external queries can be redirected through a TR7 ASP® device to a specified DNS server, or even be forwarded for a specific record only.

In summary, for any DNS query with no local record, TR7 ASP® can forward the request to another DNS server, ensuring uninterrupted service for clients.
