DNS Services

About

TR7 ASP devices can also function as DNS service providers. With the built-in DNS service, they can handle a high volume of DNS queries and play a major role in ensuring redundancy and business continuity.

How to Add?

To add a new DNS Service, follow the steps Geo Traffic Manager (GTM) > Settings > DNS Services > Add on the TR7 ASP web interface. On the screen that opens, a new DNS service can be added by defining a listener IP address and port on the TR7 ASP device.

By following "Geo Traffic Manager (GTM) > Settings > DNS Services", you can access the list of all DNS services configured on the TR7 ASP device. From this screen, DNS services can be added, edited, or deleted.

- 1 (Information to be Displayed in the Table)


Select which information is displayed in the DNS services list table.
The selectable and default-checked items include:

  • Status
  • DNS Service Name
  • vDevice
  • Route Table
  • IP
  • Cache
  • Log

- 2 (Add)


Click the Add button to open the DNS service add form.

- 3 (Edit)


Click the Edit button to open the edit screen for the selected DNS service.

- 4 (Delete)


Select one or more DNS services and click Delete to remove them from the current TR7 ASP device.


Used to search all entries in the table.


Used to perform regular expression-based searches in the table.


Used to perform column-based searches in the table.

- 8 (Page Information)


Displays how many DNS services exist and how many are listed on the current page.

- 9 (Page Size)


Select the maximum number of DNS services to be listed on a page. You can navigate between pages using the arrow icons.

After navigating to "Geo Traffic Manager (GTM) > Settings > DNS Services", clicking any DNS service opens a panel on the right showing the details of that service.

This panel displays information specific to the selected DNS service.

After adding a new DNS service through the TR7 web management interface, a new tab is dynamically added for further configuration of that service. Click the highlighted tab in the image to manage the service. For details, please click here.

DNS Service Add Form

Follow "Geo Traffic Manager (GTM) > Settings > DNS Services > Add" to add a new DNS service on the TR7 ASP device.

- DNS Service Name


Enter a name for the new DNS service.

- vDevice


Select the vDevice on which the DNS service will run.

- Route Table


Select the route table for the DNS service. If no route table is added, leave it as DEFAULT. For more information on route tables, click here.

- Frontend IP and Port


Define the listener IP address and port for the DNS service.

- DNS Forwarder


Enable and select the DNS Forwarder feature for the service. The list displays profiles added under "Geo Traffic Manager (GTM) > Settings > DNS Forwarder Profiles". To add a new profile from this screen, click the Add button. For more information, click here.

- Cache


Enable the caching feature for the DNS service. TTL durations can be set in various time units, and the maximum number of cache entries can be configured.

Define cache timeout. (Seconds-Minutes-Hours)

Max. Cache Entries

Set the maximum number of entries to be stored in the cache.

- QOS


Enable QOS for the DNS service. You can configure CPU cores, CPU priority, CPU usage limit, and memory limit according to requirements.

Manually select the CPUs to be used by the DNS service.

CPU Priority

Set the CPU Priority for the DNS service. (Low-Normal-High)

CPU Limit

Define the CPU usage limit for the DNS service.

Memory Limit

Define the memory usage limit for the DNS service.

Enable the logging feature for the DNS service.

- Meta Data


Allows attaching metadata variables and values to DNS queries for the service.

- Add


Click the Add button to add the DNS service.
