Access and User Management

On this page it is explained how a TR7 device deployed on Azure is accessed after the deployment. The device is ready to be used with the user determined during the deployment; creating an additional user is optional. For the deployment of the device itself the Deployment Guide page is followed.

The Access After the Deployment

When the device is deployed, the 80, 443 and SSH ports come open by default. These settings can later be changed from inside the device on the Management Access screen.

TR7 is accessed in two ways with the user name and the password determined while the device is being created:

The wayHow it is connectedWhat opens
The browserThe address of the device is opened in a web browser; a login is made with the user name and the password. The TR7 management interface
SSHAn SSH connection is established with the same user name and password. The own command line of TR7; the TR7 commands are run here. For all of the commands the Web CLI section can be looked at.

SSH is not obligatory

After the device is deployed, every operation can be made completely from the browser; SSH is not needed. For convenience, a login can be made directly from the web interface without dealing with SSH.

Creating a New User

This section is optional

The user determined during the deployment is enough for the access both from the browser and with SSH. The steps below are applied only if an additional user is needed.

A new user can be added not only from the command line with SSH but also from the web interface. For adding a user from the interface, the Device Users page is followed; the steps below explain adding a user from the command line.

1
Step 1 The user creation command

The command below is run on the TR7 command line; the name of the new user is written instead of <user-name>.

TR7 CLI · a new user
admin@TR7> users add userType superAdmin username <user-name> --webCli true --ssh true
Password:
admin@TR7>
The command partMeaning
userType superAdminThe user type; superAdmin is the fully authorized user
username <user-name>The name of the new user
--webCli trueIt allows the user to access the WEB-CLI in the management interface
--ssh trueIt allows the user to access the TR7 command line with SSH

For the other user types and fields the users command page can be looked at.

2
Step 2 Assigning a password

After the command is run, the password is asked on the Password: line. The characters typed do not appear on the screen. The password must meet all of the following rules:

  • at least 1 upper case letter
  • at least 1 lower case letter
  • at least 1 digit
  • at least 1 special character
  • at least 8 characters in total
3
Step 3 Logging in with the new user

The user created can log in to the management interface from the browser as well, besides the command line.

For the interface and IP layout of the device it is passed to the Network and Interfaces Setup page.
