lb notification
The lb notification command creates the notification profiles that determine who will be informed when something happens on a vService. The profile watches two kinds of event: the changes in the service status and the traffic measures that exceed a threshold. Its panel equivalent is the Alert & Notifications screen.

Writing Order
Step 1 Write the name
This is the only required field:
lb notification add service-alertsStep 2 Select the events to be watched
The status changes and the threshold measures.
Step 3 Add the sending channels
--email.0 … --sms.0 … --snmp true --ui trueStep 4 Bind it to a vService
lb service update id <vService> --notification <profile>Required Fields
| Order | Field | Status | Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | name | Required | The name of the profile; it must be unique in the collection |
The Status Notifications
| Field | What it does | What is written after it |
|---|---|---|
--serviceStatus | Produces a notification when the status of the Backend Services changes | true · false (default false) |
--poolStatus | Produces a notification when the status of the listening service changes | true · false (default false) |
--notifyDaysBeforeCertificateExpiry | Determines how many days before the certificate expires the warning will be given | The number of days (at least 1). When it is left empty, this warning is not produced |
The Threshold Measures
Each of the fields below puts a threshold on a measure; when the measure exceeds the given value, a notification is produced. They are all integers, the smallest value is 1, and when they are left empty that measure is not watched.
| Field | What it does | What is written after it |
|---|---|---|
--bw | Puts the bandwidth threshold | A number |
--reqRate | Puts a threshold on the number of requests per second | A number |
--scur | Puts a threshold on the instant number of sessions | A number |
--newConn | Puts a threshold on the number of new connections | A number |
--activeIps | Puts a threshold on the number of active source addresses | A number |
--resp4xx | Puts a threshold on the number of 4xx responses per second | A number |
--resp5xx | Puts a threshold on the number of 5xx responses per second | A number |
--srcConnrate | Puts a threshold on the number of connections per second per source address | A number |
--srcReq | Puts a threshold on the number of requests per second per source address | A number |
--srcErr | Puts a threshold on the number of errors per second per source address | A number |
--srcBin | Puts a threshold on the incoming traffic per source address | A number |
--srcBout | Puts a threshold on the outgoing traffic per source address | A number |
The Sending Channels
| Field | What it does | What is written after it |
|---|---|---|
--email.N | Determines the email addresses to which the notification will be sent | An email address; each with its own index |
--sms.N | Determines the phone numbers to which the notification will be sent | A phone number; each with its own index |
--snmp | Turns on the notification being sent as an SNMP trap | true · false (default false) |
--ui | Turns on the notification being shown in the interface | true · false (default false) |
--silentAtNight | Makes no notification be sent during the night hours | true · false (default false) |

Things to Know
- A profile does not work on its own. The notification production starts when the profile is bound to a vService with the
--notificationfield. Additional profiles can also be bound to a vService with--extraNotificationProfiles.N. - A threshold left empty is not watched. When no value is written in a measure field, no notification is produced for that measure.
- The smallest threshold value is 1. Zero or a negative value cannot be written in the threshold fields.
- If no channel is selected, no notification goes out. At least one of the email, SMS, SNMP and interface channels has to be turned on.
- The name is unique. A second profile with the same name cannot be created.
