settings dns
The settings dns command determines the DNS servers the device will use in its own name resolution. The servers here are for the device's own requests; the name resolution of the traffic depends on the settings in the routing table.

This resource is a single setting: no identifier is written, update is run directly and only the fields to be changed are given.
| Field | What it does | What is written after it |
|---|---|---|
--dns1 | Determines the first DNS server | An IP address |
--dns2 | Determines the second DNS server | An IP address |
--dns3 | Determines the third DNS server | An IP address |
Examples
# the three servers are tried in order
admin@TR7LBWAF01> settings dns update --dns1 10.0.1.53 --dns2 10.0.1.54 --dns3 8.8.8.8
# changing only the second one
admin@TR7LBWAF01> settings dns update --dns2 10.0.1.55
admin@TR7LBWAF01>
Things to Know
- This setting is for the device's own requests. The name resolution of the traffic is determined by the DNS fields in the
network namespacerecord. - The servers are tried in order. If the first one does not answer, the second is used, and if that one does not answer either, the third is.
- A partial update works. Only the field that is written changes; the others stay as they are.
