sys-cmd frr-console
sys-cmd frr-console opens interactively in WEB-CLI the console connected to the dynamic routing (such as BGP, OSPF) service of the selected route table. In the console the neighbor states, the learned paths and the routing table are examined live.
Command Summary
The command has no field or parameter.
It appears only while a Dynamic route table is selected
If the Dynamic route table setting is not enabled on the selected route table, frr-console does not appear in the Tab list and gives a Command not found: frr-console error when it is typed. The setting is enabled on the route table with the network namespace command's --isDynamic field or from the Route Tables page.
How It Works
| Subject | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Context | It connects to the routing service of the selected v-device and route table; the paths seen in the console belong only to that route table. |
| Interaction | It opens a full terminal session. The commands that are typed and keys such as Ctrl+C, Ctrl+D and Esc go to the console. |
| Exit | exit is written in the console. |
| Pipe | It cannot be used: "Pipe" operator is not allowed after interactive commands. |
| Recording | The opening of the console is written to the user logs; the commands typed inside the console do not enter this record. |
Frequently Used Commands in the Console
| Command | What it shows |
|---|---|
show ip route | The routing table of the route table; where each path was learned from |
show ip bgp summary | The BGP neighbors, their states and the numbers of prefixes received |
show ip ospf neighbor | The OSPF neighbors and their states |
show running-config | The running configuration of the routing service |
exit | Exits the console |
The console commands are the routing service's own command set; the commands that can be used depend on the protocols that are enabled and on the version of the service.
Things to Know
- The command is not in the list. The selected route table is not dynamic or the context is wrong; the current context is verified with
route-table show. - Configuration. The dynamic routing settings are managed through the route table; the console is used for examining the state.
- The active routes of the selected route table are also seen without opening the console, with
sys-cmd netstat -rn.
